Artist Statement

Intimate, genuine emotion is the driving force behind my work.  These private sentiments embrace a high level of specificity from my experiences.  The sensuous motion in the compositions allow for the abstract concept of the nonphysical to be realized representationally.

Feminine sensuality is implicit within the iconography of the artwork.  The arabesque brushstrokes have curvaceous, woman-like characteristics.  My paintings use scale, color, and compositional movement as a conduit for human psychology.  In addition to the works’ context, I use traditional and contemporary methodologies within their visual surface, craftsmanship, and construction.

I highly consider the cerebral impact of each painting for the viewer.  The paintings invite the viewer to accompany me on a unique psychological encounter.  My work is meant to stimulate interaction and contemplation; similar to the large color-field paintings by Mark Rothko. I am interested in bringing people together through commonalities that we share and encouraging humility, honesty, and a spiritual experience; like walking into a place of worship.
